that's why i added the qualifier "last year". :) you should have joined forces with Damo, who was in a neverending quest the past two years to keep the team alive. it would have made the job much easier for you :D let's hope all your hard work pays off in a glorious showing in Nagano 8)

opening game against the defending champs - bring it on!

i love the team profile the organizers wrote for us :D
Ishikawa (Kit – Black, maybe)
Another legendary ALT boozy stalwart returns after a 2-tourno absence. But unless Kanazawa has been twinned with Sao Paulo in the last 12 months they’ll do well to make the top half of the rankings. In fact, they’ll do well to make it on the pitch after their Friday night antics. Aim should be to – score 2 goals or more in one game

heck, if we score more than 2 goals in the whole tournament, i'll be happy :D

Just as a note, recent forecasts put morning rain on the horizon for tomorrow morning, but things look to clear up by the afternoon. :)

Sunday's looking pretty good!

Then again, the place IS up in the mountains, so it's likely to get more rain that metropolitan Nagano...

Here's hoping.

the mountains are higher then the clouds; it can't rain there!

it's fun playing footie in the rain, but it sucks to watch footie in the rain. and it also sucks in between our games when there isn't a dry spot to lay on. let's hope it clears off quickly.

Heh.

Damn straight. Watching whilst damp is not a fun prospect. Especially since I won't be able to take pictures if it rains. :(

The best thing about our team that all other teams were sooooo jealous about were our cheerleaders. We won even though we lost every game. Go Ishikawa cheerleaders!!!!!!

Come on, more details please, let me live a little vicariously. So far all I know is that we lost every game and the turtle was safe. Someone give me a proper write-up of the tournament! Did we score any? How did the remaining old guard perform? Any vomiting on the pitch?

Someone give me a proper write-up of the tournament!

on Saturday, the torrential early rains forced us up into the deep woods pitches, destroying our chances of winning the tournament as we are known as an open-air team.

Saturday results:
vs. Chiba (defending champs) 0-11
vs. Shonai (the dicks that defeated the greatest team in Ishikawa history on penalties two years ago), 0-8
vs. Gunma 1-9

Sunday saw beautiful weather and a return to the main pitches.
Sunday results, knockout tournament
vs. Shonai 0-3

Did we score any?

one goal, on a penalty

How did the remaining old guard perform?

AMAZINGLY. i didn't tear a groin, and Damo drank an entire bottle of Nikka before 10. Travis was hurt and didn't play (yes, we were shocked as well). Stacy was easily the prettiest member of the guy's team.

Any vomiting on the pitch?

as stated previously, Travis didn't play.

party results:
Ishikawa 25, everyone else 0

Ishikawa and some guys we didn't now but gladly helped us - 1. Anna's car - 0. :D

finally, the Ishikawa supporters (all TWENTY PLUS of them!) were incredible!!! all the other teams were green with envy.

hey now! it was 0-9. we kept it consistent by allowing teams to beat us with just 9 points.
