Maybe, but if we can't get a field there what's the use? If someone can get a good field to use there, then be my guest.

So I wanted to get a head count on who wants to play if we get together an American Football game in the next month. This will be either two hand touch or flag football, so you shouldn't need to worry about getting hurt (unless you're a klutz, then you're on your own). We're looking for anybody interested in playing. If you've never played before, great, if you kick ass that's cool too (well go easy on us). Men, Women, Robotically improved dolphins... all are welcome.

I'm still waiting to hear about our Fukui Soccer game the 18th, otherwise we'll try to do the football thing that weekend.
Also, do some people want to have a little party afterwards, or are more people just about the football?
I'll see about getting the field in Shika once I know the date for sure. There is also my beach. Or if it was in Nakanoto, it's about a 20 min drive from Shika, a party could still happen at my place. My house is a little old, but hopefully big enough to fit bunch of people. Or if nobody cares about a party, then it could be anywhere that we can find a good spot to play.
If people are game for a party, then there's also a question of when, night before or afterwards. Afterwards sounds right, as we'll want to dull our aching bones with booze and of course relive the glory in endless braggin. People will just have to be patient on the shower if they want one after possibly rolling around in the mud.

Jordan and I would also like to get an idea of numbers. So I've got this little questionaire I'd like you to shoot back at me, either email shafferinburkina at yahoo.com, or pm me.

One thing to add to this chaps is that it seems the next Jetacular will be on the night of Saturday 18th. Dip's planning another extravaganza of School Disco fun at Apre that night. Assuming it catches the imagination and people decide to come, this would lend itself well to playing either the Saturday or Sunday afternoon at Uchinada or Geijitsumura (no studs!) and the party would take care of itself.....

That's not a bad idea if people want to play on the beach. If not, then I suggest we do it a different day.

as much as i dislike the thought of playing two-hand touch (is this frickin' gym class!?), i would still do it just to get my Thanksgiving football fix. however, i refuse to play football on the beach and would have to vote Uchinada as a terrible idea. just my two cents.

Second that, NO BEACH. It should be tackle but if everyone is to wussy it should at least be flag football. I`ll check into fields in the KZ area asap. I know a couple rugby fields and baseball diamonds that it might be possible to rent. Also there is a field at KZ university that we might be able to use and there is always saigawa/asanogawa. If people are willing to come to KZ I`m sure we can set up a field. Whats the verdict on the day?

NO Jetacular 18th November

Postby kernowboy » Wed Nov 01, 2006 10:41 am

Sorry, sorry, sorry! I fucked up by just over a year and there is NO jetacular planned for this weekend. We are free to play American football anywhere we like. I truly am a plonker.....

Anyway, count me in for the game. Just my two cents, but surely we want as many players as possible involved, including girls, so surely playing touch is a better idea. For want of anywhere better to play, why not Geijitsumura (no studs!) or how about the beautiful wide swathes of grass next to the Sai Gawa about ten minutes walk upstream from the blue bridge? There were Japanese dudes playing rugby there last weekend (wearing studs!) so as long as we were vaguley careful with the ball, I think it would make a lovely location......

I will do some saigawa scouting for a good location today, Its free and central and sounds good to me. As for rules, how about flag football? I`m sure some makeshift hip flags could be made easily if a rough tally of people was made. If you want more people to play an early(10-11am) Sunday is probably a better day than saturdayじゃない?

So, the Fukui Soccer game for the weekend of the 18th is a no go. They weren't able to find a field. So that opens us up to anytime that weekend for us Footie folks.
I wanted to hear back about the Fukui game before I went to see about the field in Shika, though it sounds like a lot of people would prefer KZ instead of Shika, which is fine. I haven't gotten that many solid responses back yet from people, though perhaps that would change when we finally set a day and time.

As for flags, my school was using something that would work for one of their sports day, I'll see if I can score them and the practice bibs so we can tell people apart.

Let's come to a consensus on day and place soon as it's obviously getting close.

Again, KZ is fine, though I'm also not wild about the beach. It's not bad for a pick up game if we're already there, but to go to all the trouble to play proper (or at least as proper as we can get) football, we should be on a proper pitch. Saigawa can work if we can find somewhere wide enough.

Just let me know if you guys still do want me to check on the Shika field. I don't know what the chances are, it isn't that far from now.

I hope we can get a good turn out. Football of any kind is fun, but 4 a side just doesn't have the richness of a larger game.
